An ivy-covered English country house

The House

Ashworth & Vale

The house was founded in London on the belief that a wardrobe ought to contain a handful of excellent things — not a great many indifferent ones. We make polos, loafers, and Oxford button-down shirts. Nothing else.

Every piece is produced in small numbers, by makers we know personally, using cloth and hides that we source ourselves. Our polos come from a mill in northern Portugal that has been weaving piqué since the 1930s. Our loafers are hand-lasted in a Northampton workshop of the traditional kind. Our Oxfords are cut and sewn, one at a time, in England.

We do not run seasonal fashion. Our patterns are kept for a decade at a time. A polo bought from us this spring will still be made — and still repaired — in ten years.
